The trusty Jet Taiwan bandsaw comes into play again as we cut the triangle out, leaving the flange intact.  You can barley see the first flange because it is reflecting the bandsaw surface but it's there.
A bandsaw is a much faster way to remove metal then grinding or sanding or even milling.  Use it where ever possible.  Here I am taking another pass at the piece that has to be removed to get the semicircular shape we need.  After this cut I flip it around and take another cut to get even closer to the semicircle.  If you're poor and can't afford a 150 dollar taiwan bandsaw then use your 39 dollar sabre or jigsaw.  If you're po' which is so poor you can't even afford the last two letters, then a 7 dollar hacksaw works just fine, as well as toning up your triceps.
The right-angle grinder takes off the last bit of metal to get a perfect semicircle.  The bandsaw was especially useful to cut right down to where the semicircle meets the side flange.  Po folk can use a file.  Don't despair, it builds character and creates the lust for power tools that makes you a good American..
