A family is a great joy. I was blessed with really cool parents, grandparents, sibling, and relatives.
That's my grandparents wedding here in West Virginia coal country. They both emigrated from Croatia at about 1907. They migrated from western Pennsylvania coal country to Barracksville, West Virginia, where I believe this picture was taken. Then the family went north to Cleveland Ohio, for better work in the steel mills and canvas factories.
At right are my mom and dad, along with my brother's family. All my grandparents are immigrants. My dad got to be an executive with General Motors, and my brother holds a doctorate in physics. I've have a great engineering and writing career. This shows the American Dream is alive and well.
Like many modern families, mine is spread to the wind. Some are in Virginia, some in Colorado, some are in Texas and Florida. I moved from California to Florida several years ago. With the internet and cheap airfare, I hope our family can get to see each other more often, especially with the pandemic being over.
