The wall where the vanity goes needed to be torn down for access to the plumbing and electrical.
OK, after putting in the two new doors, I realized I should have torn out the drywall where the new vanity is going to go. First off, up at the top there was that soffit I ripped out, so the existing drywall would need a giant patch. Then there was two layers of wallpaper and some big black adhesive dots for the mirror. Next, I need to frame in two niches for the recessed 20x32" medicine cabinets that
will go in above the vanity sinks. Finally, the water lines have to be replaced, no more copper coming up though the slab. I will install copper coming down from the attic. Best of all, ripping off the drywall showed how I can adjust the two sewer lines so they line up perfectly with the new vanity. A drywall handyman tipped me how it really is easier to hang new rock than patch and fix old.
I worked down from the where the soffit used to be. I like narrow sections to fit in the car.
I soon had the drywall removed down to the drains and water pipes.
There are still those fire-stop like studs where the soffit goes, no longer needed.
I cut around the nail head to get a pry bar underneath.
I worked my way over to where the vent stack went though the "fire stop" stud.
That horizontal wood is proud to the surface over an 1/8 of an inch, it has to go.
Out comes the old Black and Decker corded saw, with a wood/nail blade.
The shorter blade let me cut around the vent pipe without nicking it.
The old wood split so I could pry it down and pull it out.
Ta da, now the wall is cleaned of nails, screws and needless lumber.
All hail the 2019 Buick Encore that can take 8-foot lumber to the dump.
There are dozens of dumpsters, and it is free for county residents. Florida, a first-world state.
They just repainted the lines, and numbered the dumpsters. They tell you which one to use.
My little dumpster took all the drywall and lumber no problem.
Around the corner, they were crushing up appliances.
Amazon delivered the Delta MultiChoice shower valves. All bent and mangled.
A few minutes to figure out how to straighten them out.
The box has this white plug, and the microscopic directions don't say what it is.
