The new screen is working fine, and is a pleasure to use compared to the old Sharp. I might have lived with the screen LEDs dying, but the dead pixels are a real annoyance when you are doing CAD work or spreadsheets or anything with linear content. My mechanical engineer buddy Dave Ruigh was the guy that showed me how nice it is to have the screen a few feet away. Over a decade ago he mounted a 54-inch Samsung a few feet from his desk. He pointed out he did need to use his reading glasses when working.
I soon realized that keeping your screens further away also means your eyesight does not deteriorate as fast. If you only focus two feet away, you eye muscles atrophy and you ether become nearsighted, or you need a stronger prescriptions than you would otherwise.
One problem I faced was none of the modern TVs take VGA anymore. So I was delighted to see Amazon had converter boxes for 13 bucks, so I could send HDMI to the new Vizio. It is a little troublesome. Sometimes the connector shifts, my laptop does not have screws next to the connector, and I lose red until I wiggle the thing. A few times I have had to cycle power by yanking the USB and re-plugging, but overall, the converter has worked great.
